Anti Acne Diet | The Facts About Diet & Acne

I’m sure that you have been told over and over that adopting an anti acne diet is useless, as acne and diet are not related in any way. I was told the same thing by several doctors as I suffered through the acne of my teenage years, and I swallowed it hook, line, and sinker.

And, as usual, I was wrong! It just took me a long time to realize it.

I am one of the unlucky few that didn’t leave acne behind once the raging hormones of my adolescence were behind me. Pimples, blackheads and whiteheads continued to form all through my 20’s and into my 30’s. I continued the same type of treatments that I had always used, and never again thought about trying an anti acne diet.

And, as they say (whoever they are!), if you keep doing what you’ve always done, you’ll keep getting what you always got!

Besides, it never made sense to me to believe that the things that you put into your body would have no affect on your body’s reaction to those things. So, about three years ago, I began a serious quest for information about acne formation and why I continued to have outbreaks while so many others didn’t.

It didn’t take very long for me to discover just how much I didn’t know about acne. I learned a lot of things, but, you only need to understand the basics to realize the advantages of adopting an anti acne diet, so, here’s the short version.

Mother Nature designed your body to operate on a certain balance of hormones, chemicals, enzymes, and a thousand other substances that all work together to make us what we are. When, for whatever reason, this balance is disturbed, your body will naturally take steps to correct the imbalance. The difference between someone like me that has acne and those that do not is the way your body goes about ridding itself of the overload.

Some people are blessed with bodies that are able to remove excessive chemicals and hormones through their natural waste process. These are the people we hated in high school because they never seemed to have any skin problems.

In some others, the body reacts by emulsifying the material in fat cells and simply storing it. That’s why you see very few fat people with acne.

The body of someone with acne also emulsifies this material, but in sebum oil instead of fat cells. The oil is then secreted out through your sebaceous glands, located in hair follicles. The amount of oil that is discharged is directly related to the amount of material causing the imbalance in your body. The more crap you have inside you, the more sebum is produced.

And, sebum oil is the root of all acne! When it pools in your skin pores and hair follicles, it provides a perfect breeding ground for the P-acne bacteria.

OKAY! I know what you’re thinking! “What the hell does all of this have to do with an anti acne diet?”

Well, just where do you think all of these extra chemicals and hormones come from?

Processed foods that you get in restaurants or grocery stores contain chemicals that are used as preservatives. These chemicals keep the food fresh and pretty, but can play havoc with your internal chemical balance. When your body’s tolerance for these chemicals is low enough, and you consume enough processed foods, the sebum oil begins to flow.

Even something as common as milk can start an outbreak. Every glass contains 97 different hormones that came from the cow, and even more hormones from the steroids that were given to the cow to stimulate milk production.

Adopting (and keeping to) an anti acne diet will greatly reduce the amount of these problem foods that you consume. For me, it proved to be the key to the complete elimination of my acne breakouts.

Just over 2 years ago, I started the Acne No More! system that involves an anti acne diet program and making small changes in your lifestyle to aid you in eliminating harmful foods from your diet.

I must admit, I almost gave up early on because I was looking for immediate results, and this type of therapy just doesn’t work that way. It takes a bit of time to flush out the stuff that’s already inside.

Once it took hold, though, I lost all traces of my acne withing about 90 days. Since then, I’ve been completely acne free, except the one time that I thought I could do it without the anti acne diet part. It didn’t take long to realize the error of my ways and now I’m bothered with acne no more!

But, my purpose here is not to sell you something. I’m writing this article to try to get you to understand that you shouldn’t always simply accept all of the things that your medical provider tells you. This is especially true when it comes to adopting an anti acne diet.

After all, people that no longer have acne have no reason to continue paying them for treatments, now do they?
