Crows Feet | A Sign of Things To Come

For many of us, crows feet seem to appear overnight. You wake up one morning and they’re just…there.

That’s what happened to me, and I’ll bet that my first reaction was about the same as yours: shock!

But, after a while, I began to realize that these crows feet were actually a blessing. In her wisdom, Mother Nature was warning me of things to come and giving me a chance to do something to stop more & more wrinkles from forming on my face and neck.

I’m just a working girl, so, I don’t have the money to try every skin cream and wrinkle treatment that I see on TV. Instead, I decided my best first course of action was to learn as much as I could about the cause of crows feet (and, wrinkles in general) and then choose a treatment that might correct that cause. I hoped that then, the wrinkles would take care of themselves.

I began reading everything I could find on crows feet, and skin care, and wrinkles, and anything else I could think of that might help me to learn what was happening. A lot of what I read, I didn’t understand (the scientific stuff), but I did learn about collagen and elastins, two skin proteins that work to keep your skin soft and firm.

As we age, the amount of collagen that our body produces begins to diminish, and elastins, which connect the various dermal layers of our skin, begin to become brittle. Above all else, these two things are what allow wrinkles to form.

Crows feet form first because the skin around your eyes is the thinnest on your body. It also contains the lowest amounts of collagen and elastins. This being the case, it’s easy to understand why your first signs of face wrinkles will appear here.

OKAY! So now I know why crows feet have appeared, but, what can I do about it?

Well, first, you must never (ever!) go outside without sunscreen.

Let me say that again…never go outside without f%@*ing sunscreen!

Nothing does more to deplete collagen production or make elastins more brittle than the sun’s UV rays. Going out without protecting your skin will increase the formation of wrinkles faster than anything, so, just don’t do it!

Give your face and neck a good skin massage at least once a day. Concentrate in the area around your eyes to help your crows feet, but, do not neglect the rest of your face. The massage will increase the blood flow to your skin and make it better able to repair itself.

Buy & use a good skin treatment product. If, like me, you’re on a budget, you’ll be happy to know that I have found that high cost and/or a famous brand name do not guarantee good results. The product’s ingredients are the only thing that matters.

For best results, chose a product that contain(s):

  • Ingredients such as Matrixyl that will stimulate natural collagen production. Without this, any wrinkle treatment or prevention product is worthless.
  • Ingredients to restore your skin’s elastins (ie: Hyaluronic Acid). Again, any product that doesn’t is worthless.
  • An effective moisturizer, for obvious reasons. Good examples are evening primrose oil and shea butter.
  • A skin tightener to reduce the appearance of crows feet and help your daily face massage to build skin tone. Examples are serum albumen, which is good but has had reports of some issues, and Pentacare NA (much better).
  • Anti-oxidants like vitamins A, E and Squalene. These ingredients will serve to combat free radicals that have formed due to UV exposure. These free radicals can do considerable damage to your skin cells and must be eliminated.

After using, and discarding, a number of skin care products, I chose to use Revitol from HealthBuy.com. It does a great job on my crows feet and, so far, seems to be stopping things from getting worse. But, since I don’t sell skin care products, you can use whatever you feel is best for you. Just choose carefully. Now that you know what to look for, take your time and get it right!
