How To Easily Lose Weight Without Dieting



It seems that the weight loss “gurus” continue to preach that you can’t lose weight without dieting and/or forcing yourself to exercise to the point of exhaustion. This is understandable for two reasons:

  1. It’s a medical fact that the only way to lose weight is to burn more calories than you consume, forcing your body to burn calories stored in fat cells to make up the difference.
  2. The “guru” just happens to be offering just the right diet or exercise machine to help you to accomplish #1, and, for a limited time, you can purchase it for a low, low, sale price! (Never to be repeated, of course!)

I think that you’ll agree that number 2 needs no further discussion (it’s how the “guru” makes a living!) If you’re looking to lose weight without dieting, however, overcoming number one is a must! But, how do you overcome a medical fact?

The answer lies in one of the most successful diets ever developed, the Atkins Diet. People following this diet have lost millions (billions ?) of pounds, all told, because Dr. Atkins realized that, in the developed world, the vast majority of calories that were consumed came from carbohydrates, not fats. That one, simple fact allowed him to design a low (NO!) carbohydrate, high protein diet that, when followed properly, actually decreased the number of calories the dieter was consuming, making weight loss almost effortless.

I have to believe that, since you are here to learn how to lose weight without dieting, asking you to give up eating carbs and starches (bread, pasta, potatoes, etc) is out of the question. Thankfully, there is another way to accomplish the same end.

Number 1 above says that, to lose weight, you must burn more calories than you consume. I will submit that, to lose weight without dieting, you must burn more calories than your body absorbs.

Your body cannot absorb the calories contained in carbohydrates and starches “as is”. It solves this problem with an enzyme called alpha amylase that is produced in your pancreas. The enzyme converts the carbs that you eat to glucose (sugar), which your body then absorbs for it’s caloric value.

The Atkins Diet sidesteps this process by eliminating carbohydrates from your diet, replacing them with proteins and fats. There’s no doubt that the diet is very effective, but it is still a diet, and that’s not what we’re about in this article.
